Busch Gardens, Williamsburg, VA - August 28, 2006
Let me preface this by saying that I grew up in Jackson, NJ, about ten minutes away from Six Flags Great Adventure, one of the greatest coaster parks in the world with, at last count,
twelve roller coasters (not including those that have risen and fallen over time, such as the worthless Viper), so I can't help but compare any amusement park to it. Busch Gardens, for instance, has a distinct edge in terms of attention to atmospheric detail, but it only has four coasters, most of which suffer in comparison to their cousins at GA.
Such as Apollo's Chariot, an excellent "hypercoaster" in which you ride on a flying chair, restrained only at the waist down steep drops, sharp curves, and several camelbacks at speeds of up to 73 mph. All of which is totally outdone by its Great Adventure analogue, Nitro.
