Ground Zero

New York, NY - April 15, 2006

This was the first time I'd been to New York since well before 9/11. I'm honestly not sure what I expected to see at Ground Zero, but I was for some reason surprised by the big hole in the ground surrounded by a fence, and the sudden lack of tall buildings in the sky. The signs were also unexpected, though I did appreciate the signs posted by the Port Authority of NY and NJ asking people to refrain from buying, selling, or soliciting anything within 25 feet of the fence. Not that that stopped some people from trying to sell us souvenier books titled "The Tragedy."
